- Switch off the main stop cock where the mains water comes
into your building - if possible
- The stopcock is usually found under the sink
- if you cant find the stop tap turn on as many taps as
possible to divert water down the drains instead of through
burst pipe
- If you have a cold water tank turn off the stopcock there
- You can drain the system by running taps and flushing the
toilets
- To avoid electrocution, it’s a good idea to turn off the
electrics at the switchboard
Do these things first and as quickly as possible to minimize the
damage.
